Try this instead: deb http://ftp.us.debian.org/debian/ squeeze main contrib non-free deb-src http://ftp.us.debian.org/debian/ squeeze main contrib non-free - packages.debian.org is NOT a mirror - 'squeeze' is safer to have instead of 'stable'.
