Hum... maybe is some kind of bug affecting those virtual file system and 
how KDE and GNOME manage them. Look, as soon as you copy the file and put 
it elsewhere away from the virtually mounted filesystem, DE editors can 
open the file without problems.

In fact, under Squeeze it works as expected (any file under "/sys" or "/
proc" can be opened with gedit).
