I'd rather pre-download the .debs and launch real dist-upgrade face > to face. /etc/cron.daily/apt can do a (apt-get update) and (apt-get -d dist-upgrade) daily for you if you'll set "APT::Periodic::Update-Package-Lists" and "APT::Periodic::Download-Upgradeable-Packages" in your /etc/apt/apt.conf(.d).
