Tried to install the latest beta (195.x.x) using sgfxi. To all
appearances it worked, but I'm still getting the same X server
failure. What the heck!?! I'm getting no errors in the Xorg.0.log
file, except some EDID errors which have never before prevented the
server from loading, but I am getting some evdev (II) entries which
don't make much sense to me - it's apparently looking for Macintosh
parts which my T61 lacks. Maybe there's a way to turn off all the
udev stuff and just tell the server what my hardware looks like; but
that would just be superstitious behavior, because the X server's
working, just not for any nvidia driver.
