Since your messages are all internal, you can get away without
spamassassin and perhaps without clamav, so exim4-daemon-light is
probably enough. If you need IMAP, there´s courier-imap, with the
advantage that it supports maildir.

Just srew the totally messy and un-administrable way Debian tries to
configure exim4 and start with the example configuration in
/usr/share/doc/exim4/examples/. Make sure to install the exim4
documentation, it´s excellent.
