You may want to upgrade to 7.5+5 from sid. I don't think this
is related to your problem, but trying can't really hurt.

This works fine here. I'm running out of ideas, so you might want to
file a bug against xserver-xorg-core (that might not be the package at
fault, but the X Strike Force is very responsive and will hopefully help
you to diagnose and solve the problem).
