Sorry, I don't know anything about xmacrorec or xmacroplay.

On another note make sure when you reply to posts on the mailing list that you are posting your reply to the list (debian-user@lists.debian.org) and not directly to someones email address. This way everyone can see your reply and maybe give you more help.
