If the filesystem is Ext3/Ext4 or JFS, that is, has a journal, and the 
journal appears OK, fsck will do nothing unless told to do it.  Use the 
"-f" option to force the fsck.  Read `man e2fsck` or `man jfs_fsck` to 
learn how to use fsck.
