Hi Arthur,


After changing the URL to;
deb http://ftp.debian.org/debian/ etch main
deb-src http://ftp.debian.org/debian/ etch main


# apt-get update

went through without problem.  

I think the cause of problem is on;
ftp.au.debian.org
