doh...I hate this list sometimes.
Why can't it function normally, like every other list
on the gods' green earth?

I use US-Intl keyboard map.
á à ç ü ñ ¿ ¡ é ß ô etc. are all quite simple.
do
# set xkbmap us intl
then look at this:
http://dry.sailingissues.com/us-international-keyboard-layout.html
to learn how to use it.
That's interesting, but is there any obvious advantage over the deadkey
method, rather than preference? I think I prefer the other, probably
because I am familiar with it...
I'm not sure what you mean. Us-intl keyboard w/ deadkeys is what I sent
you. Whatever method it is you speak of, my method is more efficient,
quicker, fewer keys to press.
à is only `+a. á is only '+a, etc. ç is only rt-alt+c. ¿ is only
rt-alt+?, etc. ñ is either ~+n or rt-alt+n, é is just rt-alt+e, etc.,
etc.
Easy to type 28°C, 55,00€, ß, þ, ö µ ð é ® © § ... all with a simple
2key combo simultaneously (not 1 key, then another key, etc.)
I can type c. 75 wpm using us intl. I type in 4 different languages,
and need access to a lot of these diacritical marks. If I had to
memorize and use all those 3 key gymnastics combos, I'd go crazy.
Besides, it's working. Including in OpenOffice.
Thanks for the explanation. Others may be interested too, including Hugo, the
