OK so by 'eject' you mean unmount the pendrive. The eject command is for ejecting a CD or DVD.

As I do not use Xfce I can't help with thunar-volman. open up aterm
or xterm and try using the umount command from there.

Maybe there is a problem with your thunar-volman configuration.

Man umount will help you figure out what you need to give as arguments to the umount command.
