Hello, I have a desktop system which I suspend to RAM from time to time using pm-suspend. After resuming everything works fine except switching to another user inside KDE (which I think technically starts another X server). The logs should contain a sequence of - starting a second X server - stoping the second X server - suspend to RAM - resume - failing start of a second X server I get in /var/log/syslog: Jul 14 13:15:45 blackbox kdm[3351]: X server for display :1 terminated unexpectedly Jul 14 13:15:45 blackbox kdm[3351]: Unable to fire up local display :1; disabling. (the entire syslog is at http://bokomoko.de/~rd/suspend/syslog ) Digging deeper in /var/log/kdm.log: X.Org X Server 1.4.2 Release Date: 11 June 2008 X Protocol Version 11, Revision 0 Build Operating System: Linux Debian (xorg-server 2:1.4.2-10.lenny2) Current Operating System: Linux blackbox 2.6.26-2-686 #1 SMP Sun Jun 21 04:57:38 UTC 2009 i686 Build Date: 08 June 2009 09:12:57AM Before reporting problems, check http://wiki.x.org to make sure that you have the latest version.
