Need advice on reinstalling because of iceape printing trouble.

I run lenny. I upgraded a month or so ago and switched from chroot
based iceweasel to 64bit iceape+icedove. Since then my printing became
sporadic from inside iceape. It would go thought motions but would not
print anything. Attempting to print to ps file produces just basic
header of a empty document. I suspect that something has gone haywire in
the interaction between iceape and the rest of the system. I like to
reinstall all the packages currently installed in my system. Is there an
issue with doing this? I mean I want to get a list of packages that is
currently installed and reinstall all of them again. It may not work,
but I want to try as other attempts to trouble shoot has failed
including googling, posting here etc.
I still have the chroot iceweasel that works for others in the system.
But I want to switch to iceape as it this the supported one now.
