vi /etc/network/interfaces

Here's a known working interfaces file from my LAN:

# This file describes the network interfaces available on your system
# and how to activate them. For more information, see interfaces(5).

# The loopback network interface
auto lo
iface lo inet loopback

# The primary network interface
allow-hotplug eth0
auto eth0
iface eth0 inet static
	address 192.168.3.3
	netmask 255.255.255.0
	network 192.168.3.0
	broadcast 192.168.3.255
	gateway 192.168.3.1
	# dns-* options are implemented by the resolvconf package, if installed
	dns-nameservers 192.168.2.30
	dns-search slsware.lan

Then reboot. It's possible to get eth0 to reconfig without a reboot, but
I don't remember how...
