with shntool and the (compiled and installed0 mac_library it is very

this is done without quality_loss, as sources on the internet say.

converting .flac into .wav_files for the audio-player in my car is very
easy as well.

my question: converting music from .flac into .wav_files: how much
quality does that cost (if any) ???

Assuming no other conversions at the same time (e.g. sample rate or sample depth), none.

.wav is the extension traditionally used for uncompressed audio, which is a file format of convention only.

.flac and .ape are both lossless formats, which means you can convert from .wav to one of them and back and get the *exact* same data. The same way you can gzip and then gunzip a file and get the *exact* same data.
thank you boyd,

glad to read you confirm my hunches: give a firm base to them.

thanks again,
