No sound on Compaq Presario CQ40-145TU with Debian Lenny 5.0
Hai,
I was trying to get a solution for this: No sound on Compaq
Presario CQ40-145TU with Debian Lenny 5.0.
After installation, I played, an audio file (mp3 song), but heard the
first two letters of song and it began repeating the the same.
I stopped it, restarted the system, since then no sound.
I removed all alsa from my system completely, and reinstalled the
same. No sound.
Then I downloaded alsa sources, compiled it and installed. Alsamixer
shows ever controls and they are not mute, but when playing a sound
file, no sound. In fact I have some nice songs on disk, to hear. I
tried the solution for ubuntu described here also:
http://ubuntuforums.org/showthread.php?t=1036508
and applied:
geohackers:/home/jaisen# /etc/init.d/alsa-utils restart
* Shutting down ALSA...
* warning: 'alsactl store' failed with error message
'alsactl: save_state:1497: No soundcards found...'...
[fail]
* Setting up ALSA...
* warning: 'alsactl restore' failed with error message
'alsactl: load_state:1573: No soundcards found...'...
...done.
geohackers:/home/jaisen#
Shows like this.
