Which driver are you using? A friend had a problem like yours, but
reboot worked for him (without any xorg.conf). This was with a intel
video card.

Javier,

I was using the xserver-xorg-video-intel.  Now, I'm using Ubuntu.  I didn't really want to do so; but, I couldn't tolerate crashes every hour, every few days.
