Well, I did. Reloading then one at a time reveals that 8139cp claims
that the chip is not an 8139+ compatible chip, but only sometimes. It
still loads ok and advises to use the 8139too driver instead.
Modprobe -v 8139too (by itself) loads it fine. But still doing ifup
eth0 gives the error described earlier.
Same story after removing all the audio drivers (Yamaha DS1-L audio
chip). I did this just in case they somehow interfere, as both
devices have been assigned irq 9.
Modprobe -v sc92031 also loads the Silan driver ok, but I still
can't bring up eth0. So no progress. Any other ideas out there?
