No you want to see the smart data on the disc,
smartctl -d ata -a /dev/sd[0-9]

Here is one from an old disc of mine, take note of line 5 and 9 :-)

at least I got the email from smart, so I guess that is a good thing..
my UPS complained twice today that power was missing, that normally only 
happens around here in the summertime with thunderstorms..
