Echo Layla 3G

Hello,
We  have a Echo Layla 3G and couldn't make it work.
After alsa, we also installed firmware modules. However, it didn't work.
dmesg command gave us the following lines:

[ 1327.995014] wait_handshake(): Timeout waiting for DSP
[ 1328.017190] wait_handshake(): Timeout waiting for DSP
[ 1328.033190] ACPI: PCI interrupt for device 0000:05:09.0 disabled
[ 1328.033190] Echoaudio Echo3G: probe of 0000:05:09.0 failed with error -5

What maybe the problem?  (we tested this card both on lenny and etch.)
After googling, a user wrote that " HANDSHAKE_TIMEOUT" value must be increased in Alsa and then kernel must re-compiled with new Alsa.
Can re-compile be a solution?
