I think many people just don't care about these things, they want their 
computer to Just Work. Many people (especially in Germany?) think that 
"you get what you pay for", so a free distribution can't be good. But 
don't forget there is also OpenSuse.

Free as in "free beer" or free as in "freedom of speech"? Programmers 
have to eat too, you know.
