Years ago I was editing a file of about 1.3 million lines in emacs.
Removing about 10% of that file made emacs hang on my PC. That is
when I started to use vim for that type of work. Vim did not have
that problem.

So I also use vim and emacs: emacs for programming (ocaml, latex,
python) and as email editor and vim for working with logfiles, bash
scripts, csv-files and config-files.
