Have a look at the output of

lsattr /usr/share/fonts/X11/encodings/large/big5hkscs-0.enc.gz

If you see any problematic attributes then you can change them with the
"chattr" command.

(Send the "lsattr ..." output to the list if you are not sure what it
 means.)
