debian developers do this, starting with the same source package. When
the source is compiled on i386, it produces a i386 package, when it is
compiled on a ppc it gives a ppc package and so on (unless it produces a
_all.deb package which is architetcure independedent). In absence of
different (real or virtual) machines one needs a cross-compiler. Some
