I had some problems with a really slow connection to a particular
website. It turned out that *their* IPv6 was configured incorrectly (it
has been fixed for that particular site). In order to avoid these kind
of problems, I disabled IPv6 in iceweasel:

In
about:config
set
network.dns.disableIPv6      true

I don't know how to disable IPv6 globally.
