Re: in KDE, starting totem forces gnome libs

Totem is the GNOME media player. I'm not surprised that weird
things happen when you pull a crap-load of GNOME dependencies into KDE.

hmm ... I use KDE primarily because it works with my university's secure Webdav access. Gnome just gets confused and reports weird errors. IIRC, I might have mailed about this on Gnome list. My reasoning being, since KDE is open source, and Konqueror works with these secure Webdav folders, why does Gnome doesn't (can't Nuatilus people take a peek at Konqueror's code to see what they are dong wrong)? Anyway, Gnome still doesn't work (hasn't at least for the last three years), so I continue to use KDE. I was a Gnome user before that.

Even less relevant to your problem, but this is one reason why I
stick with GNOME: the apps I like to use are all either GNOME or GTK
apps, and so using them with KDE just doesn't "fit" smoothly. Like
putting an octagonal peg in a pentagonal hole.

Well, I am able to KDE applications in Gnome and KDE doesn't mess up anything on the desktop. Gnomes has some problems ... or it is just retarted, not sure which one is the case.
