Alsa and ens1370 card help

The system is debian based with alsa-base and alsa-oss
packages installed.

On trying to configure ALSA as:

 # alsaconf

I see the error message:
Setting default volumes...
amixer: Mixer attach default error: No such device

How do I fix it?
