Sarge is oldstable.  With the emphasis on *old*.

Anything that's visible to the hostile environment that is the
Intarweb, I'd bump that world-facing router to Etch ASAP.

Could be your NIC is getting dodgy.  Or the HDD.  Or the ISP is
having problems.
