Thunar is also a great alternative. I'm not sure if it requires gnome
libraries to run, though (I use fluxbox, but I have gnome as an
option). It's meant for xfce, but also works on fluxbox, and
twm. So, I assume that gnome libraries would not be required for
thunar.
With brasero, the disc burning application, you can have disc
burning of iso files via a simple right-click, similar to nautilus (or
pcmanfm). I find thunar a bit faster, on my system anyway, than
pcmanfm.
