A development platform like eclipse might be just the ticket here. Youcan't run it in a command line environment; it's a single developmentenvironment you use, and just select what will be used to do thedevelopment and have eclipse take care of the development cycle for you asyou write. http://www.eclipse-project.org can get you started if memoryserves unless debian has the eclipse development packages already in itsarchives.
