I had the same problem and found a patch that fixes it. Google xcb_xlib-no-assert-on-lock.patch and compile xcb_xlib from source with the patch:

# untar the xcb_xlib package
# patch xcb_xlib.c libxcb-no-assert-on-lock.patch
=> patching file xcb_xlib.c
# compile and install
