no use, still:

$ mplayer -vo x11
mplayer: error while loading shared libraries: libGL.so.1: cannot open shared object file: No such file or directory

thanks to Andrew's 'apt-file find', problem solved by

 $ aptitude install libgl1-mesa-glx
