Googling for (parts of your) subject "Starting MTA takes long" would have taken you directly to

which is only one of multriplillions of hi(n)ts you would have gotten if you had tried figuring it out yourself in the first place.

Yep. There're background jobs mailing "you" if something's going wrong or not. Without MTA you won't get this messages.
