And indeed, after filing a wish-list for having those modules compiled 
into the binary kernel again, I have the following reply from the 
Debian kernel folks:

"no they are the old firwire stack, that has been disabled due to 
security concern and general distrust."

So, until further notice or whatever, anyone who wants to use dvgrab 
has to compile their own kernel.
