Ethernet Not Working With RJ-45 Cable
I have been connecting to the internet via USB cable on my laptop, which
works fine, but, when I take out the USB cable and attempt to use a
Computer Network Cable (Category 5E, RJ-45) I dont' get a connection
anymore (even though it says I'm connected). I even set SELinux to
passive to see if that was the problem, but the same problem remains.
When I have the USB cable for internet and do an ifconfig I get:

When using the RJ I also get the pop-up telling me that I'm connected to
the internet, but pings don't work (unknown host).
I did an lspci and got this for my ethernet card:
01:01.0 Ethernet controller: Realtek Semiconductor Co., Ltd.
RTL-8139/8139C/8139C+ (rev 10)
I did some research on the internet and saw that this corresponds to the
8139too module, so I added that module to the /etc/modules file via
nano. I restarted the computer and it still wouldn't work. My father's
computer works fine with this cable (albeit he uses Windows XP). Would
someone please show me where I'm going wrong with my
logic/understanding? Thanks. ~Telly
