The network I'm in, uses an ISA server. So i had to install the ntlmaps package. This package uses a port you define to re-route application requests to the isa server hence enabling authentication. My ntlmaps package uses 5865 as it re-routing port. This helped synaptic work. However it doesnt seem to work with apt. the error I get is similar to the one post by the pinoy guy
Cannot initiate the connection to 5865:80 (0.0.22.223). - connect (22 Invalid argument).
Still looking for answers here... someone please help!
pete
