this is in my .mutt/vimrc file

source /etc/vim/vimrc
source ~/.vimrc
filetype indent on
highlight SpellErrors ctermfg=Red cterm=underline term=reverse
set filetype=mail " correct syntax highlighting
set textwidth=79  " wrap at column 79
setlocal spell spelllang=en_au 



the important bit i believe is 2nd last
it also setups up spell checking
