restarting artsd server

How do I properly kill, stop, start, restart artsd server. It does not have
a man page (Isn't that a bug?).

Why I need this?
I have the following errors in ~/.xsession-errors
Error: Can't add object reference (probably artsd is already running).
       If you are sure it is not already running, remove the relevant files:

       /tmp/ksocket-rajulocal/Arts_SoundServerV2
       /tmp/ksocket-rajulocal/Arts_SoundServer
       /tmp/ksocket-rajulocal/Arts_SimpleSoundServer
       /tmp/ksocket-rajulocal/Arts_PlayObjectFactory
       /tmp/ksocket-rajulocal/Arts_AudioManager

and wondering how to get rid of them.
