regular wav files have a 2GB limit. If you want to record longer than
this you need to use a program that can record to wav64. 2 that I know
that can do this are timemachine and ecasound. I'm sure there are
others. ecasound is a commandline app and is suitable for running from
cron. timemachine, I think, can also be run without its gui.
