No.  If it were, the default iterations would be 1.  (Isn't that
logical?)

The reason it is insufficient is that magnetic "residue" of the
previous data values remain (which can be detected with special
equipment) after a track has been overwritten.  Many writes are
needed for the "residue" of the original data to disappear.
