You could try the NewbieDOC wiki (documentation for newbies). There is an article on users and groups - http://newbiedoc.berlios.de/wiki/Manage_users_and_groups - which may get you started.

Basically, you could put your users into a new group, give the group ownership if the directory using chgrp, and give the permissions you wish to the group on the directory group with chmod g+rwx. Try the manual pages (eg "man chmod") and google search (eg for "chmod"). When you have succeeded, you might consider documenting your efforts on the NewbieDOC wiki. :)
