AFAIK it is the same procedure since it has the same
fonts.dir
fonts.scale
files in the directory but additonaly the
encodings.dir
fonts.alias
fonts.cache
files. Generaly for the standard directories you can run
update-fonts-scale
update-fonts-dir
fc-cache
for private font directories like ~/.fonts you can
look into this three scripts how to call it.
