trouble connecting to some wifi access points

I am having trouble connecting to one of the wifi APs in my neighborhood.
Following is my connection script.

	sudo iwconfig ath0 essid "linksys"
	sudo iwconfig ath0 ap 00:18:39:20:29:CA
	sudo dhclient ath0
	sudo iwlist ath0 scan
	sudo ping xspace.com

Following is the output when I run the script:

sit0: unknown hardware address type 776
wifi0: unknown hardware address type 801

But when i try to use the seeming connection, there is nothing.

For most of the APs to which I attempt to connect, everything is fine, but in
a few cases like this one I can't connect.

Thanks very much in advance,
