I had the same problem. scponly works fine on my debian sarge box but not my etch box. The sftp client just died after authentication. The following fixed it: 'mknod -m 666 /HOMEDIR_OF_CHROOTED_USER/dev/null c 1 3' thankyou(and thankyou and steffen) Will Esselink
