Hi, in the past I've had the same problem, came around it using another
card temporarily.

But: you are trying to install 'Sarge', wich is indeed the current
'Stable' version. However, 'Etch', 'Debian 4.0', now 'Testing' is very
soon to become 'Stable'.

I know this is confusing, but just go for 'Etch', and that installer
will recognise your card ( hopefully ).
