RE: request for VMware image of Etch beta 3 release minimal netinstall
Actually...to get around #1 edit the VMX file...
Below is the one you have for this VM...remove the file name or replace
the file name in the section "ide1:0"
*********************************************
config.version = "8"
virtualHW.version = "4"
scsi0.present = "TRUE"
scsi0.virtualDev = "lsilogic"
memsize = "256"
ide0:0.present = "TRUE"
ide0:0.fileName = "deb_b3_etch_minimal.vmdk"
ide1:0.present = "TRUE"
***
****ide1:0.fileName =
"D:\Temp\Linux\Debian\debian-testing-i386-netinst.iso"
***
ide1:0.deviceType = "cdrom-image"
floppy0.present = "FALSE"
ethernet0.present = "TRUE"
usb.present = "TRUE"
sound.present = "TRUE"
sound.virtualDev = "es1371"
displayName = "Debian Etch B3 Minimal"
guestOS = "other26xlinux"
nvram = "other26xlinux.nvram"
ide0:0.redo = ""
ethernet0.addressType = "generated"
uuid.location = "56 4d 3f 02 85 9d 7f fa-df 94 d7 da 9d ed a9 c0"
uuid.bios = "56 4d 3f 02 85 9d 7f fa-df 94 d7 da 9d ed a9 c0"
ethernet0.generatedAddress = "00:0c:29:ed:a9:c0"
ethernet0.generatedAddressOffset = "0"

Perhaps. Two issues:
1. When I launch the virtual machine in VMware Player, I see a dialog
box with the message:
File "D:\Temp\Linux\Debian\debian-testing-i386-netinst.iso"
does not exist and therefore cannot be connected as a CD-ROM
image. Virtual device ide1:0 will start disconnected.
If I click on the CD-ROM menu button of VMware Player, I receive a
similar message:
File "D:\Temp\Linux\Debian\debian-testing-i386-netinst.iso"
does not exist and therefore cannot be connected as a CD-ROM
image. Failed to connect virtual device ide1:0.
2. I need the root password to log in.
