Arrgh   When will I finally start remembering to change the recipient
when I reply to a message?!  Why don't Debian lists change the
"Reply-To"?

Sorry, I can't help you any further.  I am new to Debian and somewhat
new to Linux.  I would go to packages.debian.org, though, and
download/install the stable nvidia-glx package manually.  Unless there
would be a problem with version dependencies...?
