apt cache files (*.bin) corruption

Hi all,

Recently, I've been getting regular instances of the bin files in
/var/cache/apt getting corrupted (any apt related command seg-faults unless
I delete these files and do another 'update).

There is plenty of space on this partition, so it's not that they're being
truncated. The ones I deleted this morning were also the same size as the
ones that were downloaded immediately after I deleted them. In hindsight,
perhaps I should also have done an md5sum on them to see if they changed.

Can anyone offer any reason for this repeated 'corruption'?

Andy
