dpkg --purge zeroconf
or
apt-get --purge remove zeroconf
or
aptitude purge zeroconf
or
use a GUI package manager (e.g. synaptic) and tell it to remove the
package and all its configuration files.
BTW, with "standard issue" I only meant that this comes up regularly
here. I did not mean to imply that you are ignorant for not being aware
of it. (It is hard to find the solution in the archives unless you know
already that you have to search for "zeroconf".) Many people install
zeroconf inadvertently because it is recommended or suggested by other
networking-related packages. (libnss-mdns and kdnssd)
