Why i need mplayer in Debian?

The easy way to install mplayer in 5steps:

#1 echo deb http://www.debian-multimedia.org sid main >> /etc/apt/sources.list
#2 gpg --keyserver wwwkeys.eu.pgp.net --recv-keys 1F41B907 && apt-key add /root/.gnupg/pubring.gpg
#3 apt-get update && apt-get install libdvdcss2 w32codecs msttcorefonts mplayer
#4 run mplayer
#5 once,then, as user: ln -s /usr/share/fonts/truetype/msttcorefonts/arial.ttf ~/.mplayer/subfont.ttf

mplayer is in Debian yea, but no all codecs?!

my 2cent
